Our Chapter History
NCL Walnut Creek started in 2013 as two moms, Marjorie Casey and Mary Fehrnstrom, who had heard about the organization, thought about starting a chapter in our community. The idea was daunting, but they asked around to see if there was interest, and they heard that there was, so a board was formed, and the work began. Five years later, we are a thriving chapter fulfilling our dreams of working with our daughters to support our community.
What we have all learned is that NCL is much more than just philanthropy work. Centered around a six-year plan for our “Patronesses and Ticktockers”, in addition to philanthropy work, NCL also focuses on leadership skills for all our members and cultural experiences, as well as building strong bonds between our members. We just had our first full class of Ticktockers graduate from the program with a wonderful Senior Recognition event and we have heard from many of our 2018 Ticktockers that they have already put to use skills that they learned while in NCL now that they are off in college!
